Biography
Trude Zagha was born Trude Sigall in Beirut, Lebanon, 11 August 1917, daughter of Henri Sigall and Chafi Sigall.
Trude
Zagha sailed cabin class on the SS Constitution from Genoa, Italy to
New York, NY from 6 to 15 October 1951. Her address is given as 88-35
Elmhurst Ave, Elmhurst, Long Island, NY. She was 34, married and
travelling alone.
Trude Zagha divorced her husband Sabri Zagha between 1951-1953, and
married Eric Kageler in Southampton, UK, Jul-Sep quarter, 1953. Looking
in the Marriage Index for Eric Kageler's entry, her surname is
"Zagha or Sigall", so the reasonable inference is that her original
maiden name was Sigall. On her 1951 Argentina visa, her
name is Trude Sigall de Zagha.
Eric Kageler (10 July 1912, Hanover, Germany - 1 August 1971, San
Francisco, CA), worked as a waiter or steward on ocean liners from at
least 1929 to 1953. By 1948, he was a naturalized US citizen. He was 5'
11" tall, and in 1951, 195 lbs. From 1929-1933 (at least) he was Erich
Kageler. He was born in Hannover, Germany, and living in Woodside, USA
in 1933. In 1948, he was twice Eric Kaegler.
Trudy Kageler residing at 3709 75th St, Jackson Heights/Flushing, NY,
became a naturalized US citizen on 16 July 1957. Her name was in the
telephone book for this address until at least 2002.
Trudy Kageler died 19 April 2007. She was living in Flushing, Queens, NY. Her SSN 061-38-0601 was issued in New York in 1963.
